Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Auto Electrician to report to the Supervisor – George Fisher Mine Communications. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa.
An opportunity exists for an Electrician to join the Lead Smelter Maintenance team. This role is based residential Mount Isa working a 4 Day/4 Off, 4 Day/2 Off roster, reporting directly to the Electrical Supervisor.

Your day-to-day duties will include:
Electrical and instrument inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs, as well as installations to support the Lead Smelter.
You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience working on HV and LV motors, variable speed drives, soft starters and conveyor systems.
Ability to fault-find during electrical breakdowns and experience on Ramsay Weighers, SMC positioners, ultrasonic level transmitters, differential pressure transmitters and magnetic flow meters will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A full valid Queensland Electrical license, with an instrumentation qualification highly preferred.
- Minimum of 4 – 6 years trade experience and expertise in using Allen Bradley Control Logic PLC and Yokogawa CS3000.
- The ability to think logically and be determined to work towards finding favourable solutions and outcomes regarding plant/ safety improvements.
- The successful candidate will value continuous improvement, exceptional communication skills and work within a team with a strong focus on safety.

Qualifications:
- Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial (442A) or Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A); in the absence of licensed applicants, qualified apprentices will also be considered
- A motivated attitude, a dynamic approach to getting tasks complete, and pride in accomplishment and craftsmanship
- Adept at troubleshooting, locating, identifying and diagnosing malfunctions
- Good interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with peers, engineering, and management
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills and interest in continuous learning and improvement
- Experience with power distribution systems would be a benefit
- Experience working in an underground environment is considered an asset
