Your Opportunity at SECURE
As our Heavy Equipment Operator you will be responsible for operating equipment, such as excavators/material handlers and shears. This role is based out of Winnipeg Manitoba
The Team
SECURE is currently recruiting for an operator to join our Rail Emergency Response team located in Winnipeg. Individuals will require Equipment Operating experience, and will be a member of our Rail Emergency Response Team.
A Day in The Life
Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
Experience with Shears will be considered an asset
Follow Secures’ operating standards and procedures
Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment. Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and ensure equipment is running properly
Secure special attachments to equipment
Operate two-way radios and other communication when required
Minor repairs to equipment. Report any necessary reports to the supervisor
Chaining/Rigging
Work on train derailments, railway track maintenance, installing track panels
Must have an understanding of all power and small tools
Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol
Technical
Ability to accurately maintain inspections on a daily basis;
Strong mechanical knowledge with respect to the maintenance, servicing and repair of excavators;
Ability to complete minor servicing and maintenance of excavators , including but not limited to, greasing, replacement of air filters, and settings;
Ability to safely operate excavators through difficult weather conditions and challenging work site environments;
Prior experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, shears);
Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials;
Strong work ethic and ability to work long days and occasional overnights; and
Fit-for-Work each day.
Interpersonal
Ability to communicate effectively and express thoughts and ideas in a clear manner
Good listening skills along with ability to accept and follow direction
Open and honest with team members as it relates to all aspects of the work
Ability to work alone and cover for supervision when required
Self-starter with the ability to understand operation objectives and can complete tasks with limited supervision
