The Opportunity 

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and technical minded individual to join us as Data Collection Technician on a casual basis. With a maximum workload of 2 weeks per month, this role offers the ultimate work/life balance! Working within our Road Science business, you will be part of an innovative team that promotes change through harnessing creative potential to deliver new and innovative solutions to the pavements industry. Our Mobile Data Collection team use state-of-the-art technology to test the condition of New Zealand’s roads in a way that is safer, faster and more accurate than traditional techniques. In this role, you will operate data collection vehicles and machines that are fitted with the technology to produce high resolution and precise data. You will use this data to analyse, interpret and report your findings to our customers who use this information for road infrastructure design and asset management. Based from our McLeans Island Road depot in Christchurch, this opportunity does require nationwide travel therefore would suit someone who has the flexibility to travel and stay away from home, and someone who is confident driving New Zealand roads.

Important Skills

  • Full Class 1 NZ Drivers License is essential
  • Technically savvy, confident navigating computer software and ability to troubleshoot general IT issues
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office programmed, experience working with complex Excel functions such as VBA is highly advantageous
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate and listen to clients
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Fast learner with the ability to adapt and learn new systems
  • Flexibility to work the required hours, and to travel and stay away from home
