City of Fort Saskatchewan in Canada is looking for an electrician to join their team in Canada. Reporting to the Manager, Fleet and Facilities Services, the Electrician performs various duties in the area of electrical maintenance and repair, as well as alteration and installation of electrical systems; in compliance with corporate and provincially legislated Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies and codes of practice with minimal supervision. Responsibilities of Electrician:
- Maintain, install and repair electrical equipment and systems, adhering to safe work practices and current electrical codes.
- Assemble, install, test and connect motors, fixtures, control equipment and wire systems using manuals, wiring diagrams and hand tools.
- Diagnose operating faults and determine the extent of repairs required, using test equipment, trade manuals and wiring diagrams.
- HVAC preventable maintenance, servicing, and inspections to include exhaust fans, air conditioning, heating, and humidity control systems. Coordinate inspections and repairs for all fire suppression and safety/security systems. Obtain certificates and record inspections for all equipment.
- General maintenance duties/repairs – relamping, plumbing, electrical maintenance, carpentry, patching/painting, purchase, and disposal of project materials, exterior Christmas lights and decorations.
- Troubleshooting/problem solving and reporting of facility operational concerns as they pertain to facility interiors and building envelopes.
- Duties such as work planning, including purchase order/invoice processing, quotes and contracts, handling and provide technical assistance with capital projects.
Requirements for Job:
- The successful candidate will possess a Journeyman Electrician certificate recognized by the Province of Alberta.
- A minimum of 5 years of current related electrical experience and a minimum two years in building maintenance along with a mechanical aptitude.
- A Master Electrician Certificate is an asset.
- This position requires a Class 5 Driver’s License, Confined Space Training, Fall Arrest Training, and WHMIS Certification.
- Building Maintenance Level I and II Certification is an asset. A thorough understanding of the principals of electricity and their application on a wide variety of electrical installations and equipment is essential.
- A high aptitude and experience in the operation of various building systems and troubleshooting abilities with building mechanical systems including computerized building controls systems is necessary.
- The successful candidate will have the ability to make practical, fair, and objective decisions to find solutions to problems.
- This is a physically demanding position that entails walking, lifting, and use of ladders on a regular basis, with frequent exposure to loud mechanical noise.
- This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E.
Hours of Work: 10 hours per day / 40 hours per week.
(Varying shifts) This position rotates on an on-call schedule to cover evening and weekend callouts.
