Key Responsibilities of Kitchen Manager:

  • Manages labour & food costs and put in place initiatives and activities ensuring achievement of targets.
  • Engage with residents to create a partnership approach to food & service offerings that are attractive to residents and their guests.
  • Ensure the physical café, dining environment and front of house operation is delivered to a high standard.
  • Create a culture of self-leadership, creativity, training, and continuous improvement.
  • All statutory and audit inspections are passed and that all relevant facility and staff qualification certificates are complete.
  • Manage appropriate supplier relationships and purchasing to ensure best practice,
  • Establish and maintain systems to review and ensure compliance with prescribed Kitchen standards, including stock systems.
  • Prepare attractive and profitable menus for special events
  • Responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others within the workplace

Ideal Requirements of Kitchen Manager:

  • High School diploma.
  • Basic safety training certifications.
  • Pesticide application certification.
  • Tractor and machinery operation certification may be benefical.

Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • Attention to detail to ensure the quality of crops and livestock care.
  • Problem-solving skills for dealing with unexpected issues on the farm.
  • Basic understanding of plant and animal biology.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and farm protocols.
  • Dependability and punctuality.
  • Ability to handle and use chemicals safely, including pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Good hand-eye coordination for tasks such as planting, harvesting, and operating equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, often up to 50 pounds.
