About the role:

  • Reporting to the Maintenance General Supervisor, the Maintenance Electrical Supervisor will be responsible for all areas of maintenance activity. This position combines the responsibilities for electrical trades, schedule execution, continuous improvement, and staffing to ensure company standards are maintained.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Maintain an environmentally sound maintenance program that holds employees accountable for the proactive application of the site’s environmental programs
  • Direct the troubleshooting of equipment failures to determine root cause and initiate appropriate remedial action
  • Maintain electrical systems on mobile equipment, mine power distribution systems and mine site wireless communications
  • Manage daily and weekly work schedules to ensure work is complete on time and on budget through usage of Short Interval Controls
  • Collect and analyze work delay codes to identify challenges to timely completion of scheduled jobs and work with available resources to reduce and/or eliminate identified delays
  • Maximize employee work performance and productivity
  • Participate in a Work Control Team to develop maintenance 13-week schedules
  • Follow-up on current jobs and assist electrical tradespeople with troubleshooting
  • Ensure repair history is properly documented in Dynamic AX
  • Assist in sourcing and requisitioning maintenance supplies, equipment and services within budgeted guidelines
  • Work with the General Supervisor to determine need for contractors based on shop load as well as supervision of contractors
  • Coordinate and recommend internal and external training for all skilled labour
  • Determine and recommend overtime work to the General Supervisor and subsequently approve overtime work
  • Maintain vacation schedules using Vacation Allotment guidelines
  • Complete employee work performance evaluations as per the company’s requirements
  • Be responsible for Key Performance Indicators, schedule compliance and equipment availability
  • Maintain mine electrical power distribution system
  • Ensure electrical compliance to any regulatory requirements such as CSA, and HSRC

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Electrical Journeyperson’s ticket, related technical diploma or engineering degree
  • Previous mine or industrial experience
  • Strong understanding of Programmable Logic Control
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and employee relations skills
  • Supervisory experience considered an asset, along with experience in materials acquisition, planning and scheduling
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite®, particularly in Excel, Outlook and Word; training in Microsoft Dynamics AX will be provided
