Job Description

Ballina Shire Council is situated on the Far North Coast of New South Wales, 20 minutes from Byron Bay and one hour from the Gold Coast. The shire is a popular tourism destination with pristine beaches, rainforest retreats and hinterland hideaways.

Position

Council is offering a great opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to work effectively as part of a small team to assist in providing horticultural services and care for a diverse range of Ballina Shire Council open space settings, including parks, gardens and recreational areas to promote and beautify our open spaces for our community.

To be successful you will bring

  • Demonstrated experience in horticulture laboring including operation of zero turn mowers and small plant.
  • Proven good communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-skilled team meeting agreed goals and deadlines.

The rewards

  • A salary range of $53,400 to $61,300 per annum (plus 11.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills and experience.
  • 9 day fortnight working arrangement. Council is currently trialling a range of flexible working options. Full time field staff will have the option to apply to work a compressed four day work week, subject to operational and team based requirements and approval.
