Anglo American Steelmaking Coal Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in Northwest Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description:

• A rare opportunity exists for a Dual trade Refrigeration mechanic / Electrician to join our well-established infrastructure team at our Dawson Mine in Moura QLD on a fulltime, permanent basis.
• Reporting to the Electrical Maintenance Superintendent, our Electrical Refrigeration Mechanic will work as part of a larger trades team to perform preventative and reactive maintenance.
• The primary output of this role will see you provide general maintenance and repairs across all operations including the processing & mining operations and annexures.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Perform general Electrical and Air conditioning/ Refrigeration installation, maintenance and repairs for surface infrastructure including other operational areas.
• Experience with Sigma HVAC systems is highly regarded, the role requires installation and maintenance experience on critical HVAC systems on Admin buildings, Server rooms, Dragline and Shovel Power Control rooms
• Perform a high standard of work, with all work completed in a safe and timely manner.
• Provide technical advice and support to fellow Maintenance and operational team members.
• Ensure effective communication and handover between crews with regard to maintenance plans and issues.
• Identify correct parts and equipment for all planned and unplanned jobs as necessary.
• Continuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Highlight equipment defects and issues effectively utilizing the maintenance management process.
• Ensure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHIA requirements including Hazard ID’s, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting.

Qualifications:

• Current Arctic Refrigeration Handling License – unrestricted
• Electrical License, Electrical Fitter/Mechanic level
• Valid open Driver License
• Experience in completing facilities and building maintenance and inspections to an agreed schedule
• Previous experience working and supporting a larger team of trades is preferred but not essential
