Job Description
Reporting to the Young-Davidson Mill Manager, the Mill Operations Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of an 8,000 tonnes per day mill, paste plant and water treatment plants. This position is full-time and permanent.
Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly automated lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide safety leadership for a culture of health and safety of all employees
- Support the team and coordinate with other departments to achieve the Mill Operations targets
- Create a culture of operating excellence, performance and project objectives
- Ensure training and compliance are achieved for all employees
- Identification and rapid implementation of improvement opportunities for increased free cash flow and reduced costs
- Responsible for personnel recruitment, development and corrective action
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Support in operations budgeting and forecasting for both physical and financial metrics
Experience:
- Post-secondary degree from a recognized institution in chemical, metallurgical or mineral process engineering would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 10 years in a mill operations environment with previous supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Previous knowledge of grinding, flotation, CIL, carbon elution and refining in a gold mill
- High level of commitment to improving the business through continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership, management, communication and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to meet safety and production targets
