Job Description

As a senior position reporting to the Regional Technical Manager, you’ll oversee food safety and quality at the Henderson Further Processing facility while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly verifiers. This role serves as a vital support for the Regional Technical Manager and provides critical assurances to head office regarding food safety, Management of Change (MoC), labelling, and risk assessment for Henderson Further Processing operations and occasionally the broader organization. The key to your success in this role will be your ability to assess a situation professionally, your leadership skills, and ability to influence, foster teamwork, and build relationships with people at all levels of our complex business. Experience in various technical teams and sites in the business will be an advantage to bring new ideas and consistency.

Day in the life of the role

  • Organizing and delegating day to day technical services to ensure all tasks are covered by team members.
  • Providing assurance through reporting and communication of outcomes. Provide analysis and assessment of opportunities and risks arising from the assessment.
  • Influencing and educating stakeholders on how to implement and maintain mature assurance systems (Quality Assurance and Food Safety culture).
  • Ensuring prerequisite programmed are maintained, adhered to, and delivering requirements of the Company’s RMP and QMS.
  • Providing guidance to Manufacturing in order to maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality.
  • Proactively identify and lead Management of Change and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Conduct risk assessments as it relates to Henderson FP operations.
  • Drive food safety and quality improvements through effective root cause investigations of non-conformances and customer complaints.
  • Coordinating and representing the organization to external stakeholders in technical services areas as requested.
  • Leading the facility’s Technical (Quality) Team to achieve team goals and grow within the business.

What will you bring to the table

  • Food Technology, Food Science, or relevant Science tertiary qualification, with at least 10 years’ experience in quality assurance, compliance, or food technology in a manufacturing environment, if no tertiary qualification in relevant field, 15 years relevant working experience with clear demonstration of having gained significant on the job skills and knowledge.
  • High care product/ environment management.
  • Proven leadership experience and exemplary people management skills.
  • Lead Auditor, Advanced HACCP.
  • Strong practical knowledge in internal auditing, analysis and report writing, including in-depth and complex risk assessments with an ability to present in a logical and technically robust manner.
  • Strong practical knowledge of the food industry, food safety culture, microbiology, food technology, animal health and welfare and quality management systems.
  • Exposure to RMP will be advantageous.
