Northern Beaches Hospital is seeking Security Officers to join its team. As a Security Officer, you will help provide a high level of service to patients, staff, and visitors. You will support the Security Manager and help provide protection and safety across the hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Security Officer, you will be an active member of the team. You will help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Your duties will include:

  • Patrolling hospital grounds and car parks.
  • Monitoring security systems.
  • Controlling access to restricted areas.
  • Responding to emergencies.
  • Managing aggressive or disruptive behaviour.
  • Investigating incidents.
  • Assisting with evacuations and emergency procedures when required.
  • Working with clinical staff, emergency services, and visitors.
  • Ensuring hospital policies are followed.
  • Helping everyone on site feel safe and supported.
  • Identifying and reporting defects, safety hazards, or damage to buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Reporting issues to the appropriate person, such as the Engineering Manager, Security Manager, or Supervisor.
  • Conducting internal and external site patrols as required.
  • Providing assistance with cash, drug, and staff escorts as required.
  • Operating security equipment, including CCTV, intruder and duress alarms, and access control systems.
  • Managing security identification cards.
  • Performing duties in line with security legislation.
  • Assisting with the apprehension of absconding patients when required.
  • Participating in restraint under the direction of clinical professionals.
  • Following authorised written and verbal instructions.
  • Following policies, procedures, values, behavioural charters, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
  • Performing other security duties as directed by the Security Supervisor, Security Manager, and Corporate Service Managers.
  • Taking part in training required by NSW Health.
  • Keeping all required competencies current.
  • Being a member of the Internal Response Team.
  • Responding to emergency codes within the hospital.
  • Managing parking and smoking controls.
  • Issuing infringements when required.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current NSW Security Licence Class 1A.
  • Must hold a NSW Driver Licence Class C.
  • Must hold a valid Senior First Aid certificate.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in stressful situations.
  • Willingness and ability to follow directions from team leaders in clinical and administrative roles.
  • Experience responding to changing and challenging situations.
