Job Description
Stores Assistant Job in Auckland offers an opportunity to support stores, inventory, work orders, freight, and workshop operations with IMG in East Tamaki, Auckland. This is a full-time role for a dedicated person who can provide good service, manage stock, handle work orders, and safely use a forklift. The position works Monday to Friday, with 8-hour shifts between 6:00am and 5:00pm. Applicants must currently be based in New Zealand.
About the Stores Assistant Job
IMG provides engineering maintenance, fabrication, civil, and hydraulic services across the North Island. The company works with different industries and provides services that include plant upgrades, maintenance projects, process optimisation, and breakdown maintenance.
The Stores Assistant will support the stores counter, work orders, and inventory. The role reports to the Lead Stores Person and helps keep workshop and field service operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will handle several daily stores and warehouse tasks. These include:
- Man the service counter and respond to team requests.
- Issue tools and inventory when required.
- Provide prompt and friendly customer service.
- Coordinate and manage work orders.
- Help maintain a smooth workflow and timely completion of work.
- Unload inbound freight using a forklift.
- Load outbound freight using a forklift.
- Inspect and receive incoming goods.
- Check the accuracy and quality of received goods.
- Move incoming goods to the correct storage locations.
These duties require good organisation because the stores function supports both workshop and field service teams.
Job Requirements and Skills
Experience with forklifts and other warehouse equipment is preferred. Candidates should also have strong communication and customer service skills.
The ideal candidate can work efficiently without constant supervision and can also contribute well as part of a team. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are important for handling inventory, work orders, and incoming goods accurately.
Technical knowledge can also be useful. IMG ideally wants someone with some understanding of engineering, mechanical equipment, and industrial components. However, the role also requires a willingness to learn and contribute in a busy, fast-paced workplace.
Working Hours
This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday position. Employees will work 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
You must be available to work between 6:00am and 5:00pm. The advertised job does not state a specific salary, so candidates should confirm the pay details with the employer during the recruitment process.
Application and Screening
IMG is accepting applications only from candidates currently based in New Zealand. The company is also a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
Pre-employment screening is required. This includes drug and alcohol testing as part of the recruitment process.
