Role details
Reporting to the Repair Workshop Coordinator, you will be the leading hand of the team responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing machinery used in the paper manufacturing process. Your expertise will play a crucial part in ensuring our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
What you will do
- Create a safe working environment and maintain the workshop environment to a clean, safe and organized standard.
- Overhaul the repairable spares removed from the plant, to the required standard and specifications.
- Lead and Supervise workshop staff, including training & development of repair workshop trades and apprentices.
- Review and prepare a weekly schedule of work based on repairable backlog priorities, and availability of parts and other resources.
- Ongoing development of work instructions & quality assurance procedures for each task to capture good practice and standards, & facilitate the transfer of knowledge.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to implement process improvements and equipment upgrades to enhance machinery. reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and maintenance activities.
What You Will Bring
- Trade qualification – Fitting and Machining (essential).
- Proven experience in a workshop environment, ideally within paper manufacturing or related heavy industry.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading and delivering maintenance repairs.
- Ability to weld metal (ARC, MIG, TIG or gas).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
