A Day in the life

In this position you’ll use your skills and experience to perform scheduled service, fault analysis/troubleshooting, and potential main component or blade work on wind turbines. During a typical day, you will work at heights and in confined spaces, while being exposed to the elements of weather. At these sites near Barangay, Chin and Magrath, Alberta, you will typically have shifts 5 days a week at 8-10 hours a day, but you also will have an on-call rotation schedule for off-work hours (weekends). The team here normally works in teams of 2-3 and typically will climb 1-2 turbines a day. You may be expected to travel up to 30% of the work year to work at other site locations or attend training.

More About You

  • You will need a safety-focused mindset and your positive attitude will contribute to your ability to work in a team environment, while being motivated and taking initiative in daily tasks
  • You can identify solutions to issues with process of elimination
  • You will bring a high school diploma or equivalent and you will bring 1-2 years of transferrable mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical work background or a wind school certification
  • An agricultural background or work experience is a great transferrable avenue to this entry level service technician position with Vestas
