Job Description

Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the Camp Maintenance Technician will perform general carpentry and maintenance services to ensure optimal performance of camp properties at the Island Gold District.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and execution of small-scale maintenance and carpentry projects
  • General building and site maintenance including construction and installation of signage
  • Conduct weekly assessments of each dormitory wing, kitchen, recreation center and houses
  • Identify any deficiencies and address issues as they arise (providing certification allows)
  • Ensure heat, water and power are functioning
  • Conduct regular checks on fire doors
  • Unclog toilets and sinks
  • Maintain heavy kitchen, refrigeration, housekeeping and cleaning/drying machines
  • Replace light bulbs as needed
  • Collect garbage bags from bins and dispose of them in municipal landfill
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of building maintenance experience, with a focus on carpentry and plumbing
  • Relevant trade experience in the mining, construction or other heavy industry is an asset
  • Understanding of water pumping and piping systems is an asset
  • Certification in working at heights, aerial lifts considered an asset
  • Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of change; must be creative and flexible

Working Conditions:

Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather and conditions. This will be 14 day on 14 day off rotation, day shift only, and subject to callouts.
