Job Description
Discover TRIUMF, Canada’s particle accelerator centre. We are a publicly funded, not-for-profit research lab that is a hub for discovery and innovation. Our mission is to serve as Canada’s particle accelerator centre. We advance isotope science and technology, both fundamental and applied. We collaborate across communities and disciplines, from nuclear and particle physics to the life and material sciences. We discover and innovate, inspire and educate, creating knowledge and opportunity for all. TRIUMF’s diverse community of nearly 600 multidisciplinary researchers, engineers, technicians, tradespeople, staff, and students create a unique incubator for Canadian excellence, as well as a portal to premier global collaborations. Fueling innovation and improving lives, we are committed to accelerating discovery and shaping a better world.
Central to the success of TRIUMF are a number of accelerators including two SRF linacs: a SRF QWR heavy ion linac and an SRF 1.3GHz electron linac. TRIUMF’s RF Department is responsible for maintaining and providing services for all the radio frequency systems of the TRIUMF accelerators. The systems range in frequency from 5 MHz to 1300 MHz and in power from a few watts to hundreds of kilowatts. The RF Department personnel are also involved in development programs in superconducting rf, high level rf and rf controls both in the support of local infrastructure as well as external collaborative projects. Presently TRIUMF is engaged in the development and production of five crab cavity cryomodules for the Hi-Lumi project at CERN.
Local infrastructure to support the SRF developments includes a clean room, test area with multiple cryostats, HPWR and chemical etching treatment facilities, an rf induction heat treatment furnace as well as an experienced technical support team.
The TRIUMF RF Department is looking to hire someone to assist in supporting technical activities within the LLRF group, taking on an evolving role with opportunities for growth and contribution.
